Help us make a difference. As part of EMS Cognito’s Corporate Social Responsibility, we support different charities throughout the year. We recognise and believe in the fact that every little bit counts, and aim to assist in any way we can in improving the lives of others. This year, EMS Cognito’s very own Managing Director, Richard Kelly, has volunteered to raise money for the charity Above & Beyond. Putting his body to test, Richard will be cycling all the way from Bristol to Paris. On the 3rd of May 2015, Richard’s week-long journey will begin. Starting with two days cycling through the UK, followed by a quick sale to France, the tour will end at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower. His longest cycle to-date, Richard will have traveled just over 430km for this amazing, and worthwhile charity.

What exactly is he raising money for? This particular event aims to raise £100,000 in order to provide hospital rooms for patients suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. Last year alone, there were over 200 patients treated in Bristol’s hospitals for this life-shortening disease. There simply aren’t enough rooms to cater for everyone. Cystic Fibrosis is not a disease that you ‘catch’. 5 babies per week in the UK are born with this incurable disease due to a faulty gene. Affecting the body’s ability to move salt and water in and out of your cells, Cystic Fibrosis makes it difficult for patients to breathe and digest food.  Many sufferers spend the majority of their life living in hospital, and so the aim is to provide funds to ensure better facilities are developed, and in turn improve the quality of life for all patients.
